Steven Gerrard backs Wayne Rooney for National Team

Steven Gerrard claims that England fans should not be pushing Wayne Rooney out of the national team for a dip in form.

A recent survey indicated that fans overwhelmingly support the decision to drop Rooney in favour of young strikers like Harry Kane and Jamie Vardy. The latter have recently scored in the friendly games for England. Rooney is yet to feature for the national team in 2016, but he finished last year with five goals in eight appearances. His record with Manchester United in the 2015-16 campaign has been extremely disappointing. Young striker Anthony Martial has been frequently able to overshadow him.

Tottenham can be hugely thankful to goalkeeper Hugo Lloris

Tottenham can be hugely thankful to goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, who has saved a number of points already this season.

However, the Frenchman has revealed that he could have easily left the club had it not been for the arrival of Mauricio Pochettino with his brilliant ideas. Spurs appeared to be struggling for a direction when Tim Sherwood was the interim manager. He was replaced by Pochettino, who had achieved great things with Southampton until then. However, his experience in English football was limited by that stage. Lloris was turning out to be a great signing for Spurs.

Liverpool sufferred major Setback in Season

Liverpool have suffered a major setback at a crucial stage in the season with the news that midfielder Steven Gerrard has suffered a potential hamstring injury that could keep him out for a few weeks of action.

This injury comes at a time when Liverpool are awaiting crucial matches in the Europa League and FA Cup. Gerrard is in his final season at Liverpool as it has already been announced that the iconic midfielder will be joining LA Galaxy at the end of the season. Liverpool are hoping to send him out on a high by lifting the FA Cup. The 2-1 win over Crystal Palace has put the club in the quarter-finals of the competition.

Liverpool skipper was star in Previous Show against FC Sasel

Steven Gerrard still has it in him. The Liverpool skipper was the star of the show the previous Tuesday in the Champions League home game against FC Basel.

The Reds could not win, but, the way they played in the second half especially in the final 10 minutes or so, it was superb and Gerrard was responsible for that.

Right through the game, the energy level of Gerrard was right up there. He had stepped on to the field with some determination. His shoulder did not drop at all when he saw the comparatively weaker opponent side going 1-nil up. That actually motivated him more. He was screaming, trying to charge his teammates up.

Gerrard Thinks Liverpool Needs To Hunger More For Victory

Steven Gerrard reckons that his boys did not have enough hunger in the European Cup fixture against the Swiss club FC Basel the other day.

The Reds lost that match by 0-1 to slip to no. 3 in Group B. With a win versus Ludogorets Razgard, they had made a great start, but, the outing against Basel did not seem to have impressed Gerrard even a single bit.

In the post match interview, Gerrard said, “I think they were hungrier than us. We were not up to the task. It’s gutting obviously.”

“You’ve got to be tough playing in big games like these, but, that was not the case with us. We were loose on a number of occasions. We conceded again and unfortunately, this time around, that one goal was the difference.”

Gerrard Reveals Advice To Suarez

One of the biggest signings of this summer transfer window is without doubt Luis Suarez’s move to Barcelona for a price tag of £75 as the Spanish club wants to win major titles in the next season which was something that Barcelona failed to do in the previous season.

But even before Barcelona displayed interest in signing the Uruguayan phenomenal there were a number of clubs that were willing to go deep in their pockets and sign Luis Suarez including Arsenal as the team of Arsene Wenger launched an offer of £40m hoping that it would be enough to sign Luis Suarez but it never happened.

The iconic figure of Liverpool, Steven Gerrard has now revealed that he suggested Suarez to not join Arsenal as Suarez is simply too good for them.

Gerrard Instrumental To Liverpool Success

Along with Luis Suarez, there has been another dominant figure throughout the entire season which is one of the main reasons on why Liverpool still continues making a genuine charge at the top of the Premier League and that player is Steven Gerrard.

Steven Gerrard’s performances can be evidenced by one of his recent pieces of silverware as he was awarded with the PFA Player of the Month Award in March. The veteran midfielder had to share the award with Luis Suarez.

Liverpool’s Brendan Rodgers failed to secure any new players during the January transfer window and while other of their main rivals of the Premier League did manage to strengthen the squad, it is not the case of Liverpool which are fighting on the top 5 spots of the top tier league in England.

Mohamed Salah and Yevlen Konoplyanka were the 2 main targets that Liverpool was attempting to bring into the squad but both deals ultimately collapsed. Liverpool did manage to offload some of their players including: Adam Morgan, Tiago Llori, Craig Roddan and Michael Ngoo either on loan to a different club or simple released on a free deal.

Brendan Rodgers has hailed the return of Steven Gerrard from injury, as he claims that the 33-year-old is still one important members of the squad. Gerrard missed important matches against the likes of Tottenham, Manchester City, and Chelsea.

Even though Liverpool enjoyed a comprehensive victory over Tottenham, they lost in the subsequent two matches to finish in the fifth position on New Year's Day. The victory over Hull city on New Year's Day was marked by the return of Gerrard to the first-team action and Rodgers reckons that Liverpool could not have had a much better news.

Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard has said that this is too early in the season to start thinking about titles. Liverpool have not finished in the top four for the last four seasons, but they have made a tremendous start to this campaign.

They are second in the table only a couple of points behind Arsenal, which has given their fans hope that they can lift the Premier league title for the first time in their history. Liverpool have won numerous league titles, but never the Premier league title in their illustrious history.
